These rules govern all Match Point MLP team competitions. The goal of this league is to provide a competitive, organized, and respectful MLP-style pickleball experience. All players, captains, and participants are expected to understand and comply with these rules.
1. League Format
Teams consist of four (4) players; two men and two women.
Depending on the league, teams are either brought into the league or formed via a live or virtual draft.
The league follows an MLP-style team match format.
Each team match consists of multiple games contributing to a team result.
2. Match Structure & Scoring
Matches consist of Women’s Doubles, Men’s Doubles, Mixed Doubles (Pair 1 and Pair 2), and a Dreambreaker (see below), if necessary.
Doubles games use sideout scoring to 11 points, win by 2.
Each team is allowed two timeouts per game.
Teams switch ends at 6 points.
3. Dreambreaker (Rotating Singles)
The Dreambreaker is played when match is tied 2-2 after doubles games.
If a Dreambreaker is not required, no additional singles play will occur for that match.
Singles rally scoring to 21 points.
Players rotate every four (4) rallies in a fixed order.
Rotation order must be submitted prior to play.
No timeouts are permitted.
Winning point must be made on team’s own serve
When at game point, winning team’s score will freeze when not serving
Rally scoring continues for losing team
4. Game and Match Point Values
Each game is worth 1 point.
Winning 3 or 4 doubles games earns 1 bonus point.
League standings are based on overall points.

5. Lineups & Rosters
Lineups must be submitted prior to match start.
Gender requirements must be met for each game.
Substitutes require commissioner approval.
Season-ending injuries may allow permanent replacement.
6. Substitutions & Absences
Substitute players are part of an open pool and not reserved exclusively by any team.
Substitute appearances are limited to preserve competitive balance.
Teams must attempt to field a full roster.
Emergency substitutes require approval.
Unapproved substitutes result in match forfeiture.
Minimum player requirements must be met to avoid forfeits. Substitute:
Cannot exceed replaced player’s DUPR by more than 0.250
Must have at least DUPR Doubles Reliability of >60%
Opposing Captain reserves right to approve either failed minimum requirement, above, if they deem acceptable.
Per-night substitute fee ($10) must be paid via Match Point venmo (@WinMatchPoint) prior to competing.
Substitute must sign waiver prior to playing.
7. Conduct & Sportsmanship
All participants must follow the League Code of Conduct.
Harassment or unsportsmanlike conduct is prohibited.
Captains are responsible for team behavior.
Violations may result in warnings or removal.
8. Waivers and Eligibility
All players must complete a Match Point waiver prior to participation in any league or event.
Players who have not submitted a completed waiver are ineligible to compete.
Waivers must be completed once per season/event, unless otherwise required.
9. Commissioner Authority
The commissioner has final authority on all rulings.
Rules are applied consistently across teams.
Public protests are not permitted.
Clarifications may be issued during the season.
10. Scheduling & Forfeits
Schedules are released, with best effort, prior to the season.
Player or team late arrivals to matches may result in forfeited games.
No-shows forfeit all scheduled games.
Weather or facility issues may require rescheduling.
11. Protests & Appeals
Protests must be submitted privately within 24 hours.
The commissioner will review and issue a final decision.
Decisions are final.
12. Refunds & Fees
League fees are non-refundable once play begins.
No refunds for missed matches or injuries.
Refunds may occur only if the entire league is cancelled.
13. Amendments
The league may amend rules as necessary.
Material changes will be communicated to captains.
